About GNLU
Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) is the statutory university established by the Government of Gujarat under the Gujarat National Law University Act, 2003. The University has been in the process of striving for academic and professional excellence in the field of legal studies in the country since 2004. GNLU strives for all-round and inter-disciplinary academic excellence in sync with the other National Law Schools of the country.
About GNLU Centre for Law and Society
The GNLU Centre for Law and Society (GCLS/Centre) functions as a focal point for socio-legal research, facilitating interdisciplinary and multi- disciplinary research and study on law and society, and law and legal institutions. The mission of the Centre is to promote an understanding of the role of law in society.
The centre encourages multidisciplinary perspectives to inform analysis and debate on socio-legal issues, thereby providing the most comprehensive approach to research and policy-making. It seeks to examine and inquire into law-related issues from the perspectives of a broad range of disciplines, such as anthropology, communication, critical gender studies, economics, environmental studies, ethnic studies, history, linguistics, philosophy, political science, psychology, sociology, and urban studies and planning.
Call for Blogs
The GCLS Blog is an initiative to promote the interdisciplinary study of law and society. We welcome articles having contemporary relevance focusing on society, policy, and ideas attributing a study of legal institutions and framework in India. The Centre is calling for contributions to the GCLS Blog. Submissions will be considered on a rolling basis.
Theme
The GCLS Blog welcomes articles based on the interface between law and society, with an emphasis on contemporary developments.
Submission Guidelines
- Submissions for the blog shall be reviewed on a rolling basis.
- Submissions must be original. By submitting an article, the author undertakes that it has not been submitted, accepted, or published elsewhere.
- The maximum word limit is 1500 words.
- All relevant sources must be hyperlinked. In case no hyperlink is available for reference, the use of endnotes is recommended. Speaking endnotes and footnotes is discouraged.
- The maximum number of co-authors permitted is two.
- The editorial board may take up to seven days to respond to submissions.
- Submissions made via email shall necessarily contain the following in the body of the email:
- Name of the author;
- Institution / organisation of affiliation;
- Year of study (if applicable); and
- Short bio (not exceeding 50 words).
- The manuscript should be free from any artwork or border lines. The authors are also requested not to mention their personal details in the manuscript, instead, it should be mentioned in the body of the email.
Formatting Guidelines
- Font Size: 12′ for text and 10′ for end notes.
- Font Style: Times New Roman.
- Line Spacing: 1.5, Justified.
