About the Job
The Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla invites Online Applications (OA) from eligible and desirous candidates for various teaching and non-teaching positions. Applications are invited for the posts of Registrar (on tenure basis), Assistant Registrar (on regular basis), and Research Associate in Law (on contractual basis with a consolidated salary) through the official University recruitment portal.
- Registrar (On Tenure Basis)

- Pay Scale: Academic Level 14
- Qualification: Candidate must be an academic person in law not below the rank of Professor. Relevant experience in University administration is desirable. The term shall be five years or until the age of sixty-two years, whichever is earlier.
- Assistant Registrar (Regular Basis)

- Pay Scale: Level 18 as per HPCS Revised Pay Rules, 2022
- Qualification: Master’s degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade; Five years’ experience as Section Officer/ Superintendent Grade-II/ Personal Assistant or equivalent in a government or higher education institution. Alternatively, three years of teaching experience in a UGC-approved institution. Good knowledge of computer applications is essential. Preference will be given to candidates with familiarity with Himachal Pradesh customs and dialects and those holding an M.Tech., M.Phil., Ph.D., or MBA.
- Research Associate in Law (Contractual Basis)

- Salary: ₹50,000/- per month (Consolidated)
- Qualification: As per UGC Regulations 2018 and HPNLU Executive and Service Regulations 2020, equivalent to qualifications prescribed for Assistant Professor of Law. The term of engagement will end on 31st December, 2025.
General Instructions
Candidates must ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria as of the closing date (10.08.2025). They should retain their USER ID and PASSWORD generated during the online application for future use. All communication shall be conducted via email and mobile numbers provided in the application form. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that contact details remain active throughout the recruitment process.
Applicants must avoid errors while filling out the online application. Misrepresentation or incorrect information will disqualify the candidate from any University recruitment process for a period of three years.
All application fees must be paid online through the payment gateway available on the recruitment portal. The University reserves the right to alter the number of posts, eligibility conditions, or any other part of this advertisement without prior notice.
Specific Instructions
- Registrar: Applicants must fill out and upload the API Score Form (Annexure I) on the ERP portal. Hard copies of all publications with ISSN/ISBN numbers, authorial details, and supporting documents for claimed API points must be submitted along with the hard copy of the application form.
- Assistant Registrar: Upload experience certificates showing grade and pay scale. Submit hard copies along with the application form.
- Research Associate (Law): Full copies of all research publications and academic records must be submitted. Hard copy submission is mandatory along with the online form.
Application Procedure
The online application portal will be open for submission from 10th July, 2025 (5:00 PM) and will remain active until 10th August, 2025 (5:00 PM). Candidates must register and apply through the University’s ERP portal: https://erphpnlu.in. The detailed advertisement, instructions, and eligibility criteria are available on the official University website: https://hpnlu.ac.in. No offline applications will be accepted.
Candidates are required to fill out the Online Application Form carefully and upload all relevant documents, including proof of qualifications, experience, and a copy of the payment receipt of the prescribed application fee of INR 3000/-. The application form must be submitted online, and a printed hard copy of the submitted form, along with self-attested copies of the required documents, must be sent by post or submitted by hand to the Office of the Registrar, HPNLU, Shimla, Sixteen Miles, Ghandal, Shimla-Mandi Highway, Shimla – 171014. The last date for receipt of hard copies is 20th August, 2025. The University will not be responsible for postal delays.
At the time of the interview, candidates must produce the original certificates and a printed copy of the online application form. Incomplete applications or those submitted without the requisite documents and fee will be summarily rejected.
